  Job Title: Technology Transfer and Sustaining Engineering Specialist

Status: Exempt

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Technology Transfer and Sustaining Engineering Manager

Hours: Full Time, 7:30-4:30, flexible

Job Summary:
Plans and performs duties related to design transfer, sustaining engineering, and production of Codonics products.

Duties and Responsibilities: (subject to change)

  • Design Transfer:
  • Collaborate with design engineers and product managers in the creation and maintenance of engineering documentation required for production. Includes work instructions, bills of materials, and other production-related documentation.
  • Create and execute Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) including content generation and creating product structure. Collaborate with product managers and design engineers to create ECR design content.
  • Manage and execute engineering and production pilot build processes.
  • Perform, manage, and assist with validation of production processes and tools.
  • Assist with, and in some cases, create Component Specification Control (CSC) documents.
  • Work in conjunction with design and test engineers to define production testing methodologies, process, and tools.
  • Sustaining Engineering:
  • Manage and execute projects to address component end-of-life events.
  • Manage and execute ECRs to release new configurations of existing products.
  • Assist Production, Purchasing, Quality, outside suppliers, and design engineers in reviewing, analyzing, and initiating corrective action for components and/or assembly problems.
  • Production Support:
  • First-line troubleshooting, fault-isolation, and root-cause-analysis of non-confirming product.
  • In some cases, conceive and execute process and/or design changes to correct non-conformities.
  • In other cases, provide assistance to product managers and design and test engineers to correct non-conformities.
  • Execute Quality Management System (QMS) dispositions, and in some cases, approvals.
  • Create and execute Temporary Process Deviations (TPDs) to facilitate continued production until an ECR can be executed or a problem corrected.
  • Other:
  • Serve as peer reviewer to co-workers performing similar job functions.
  • Be the advocate for production within engineering to improve efficiency and yield and drive down costs.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve production methods.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities to improve production capabilities as related to production software tools or other control/analysis activity.
  • Participate in peer design reviews for new designs and products providing expertise on design for manufacturability and service.
  • Some travel required.
  • Any and other duties may be assigned.

Required Skills:
  • Proficiency and experience with computer software tools including:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Basic image manipulation in programs such as Microsoft Paint, GIMP, or Photoshop
    • Email communications
    • Internet research
    • Experience with ERP/MRP system(s)
        • Pro/Engineer or other CAD experience desired
  • Able to learn, understand, and apply technical subject matter.
  • Able to learn, understand, and apply technical organizational processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and be comfortable with a “hands on” approach to problem solving on the production floor.
  • Ability to quickly analyze production problems, perform experiments, and drive towards resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management aptitude.
    • Software / Programming knowledge desired.
    • Familiarity with GMP, FDA guidelines, and/or ISO standards desired.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Education: Two-year technical or engineering degree or equivalent experience and skills. Mechanical or Electrical desired.
    • Minimum two years working within technical engineering and production organizations
